Todd is CEO and owner of Wealth Planning Law Group, LLC. Todd has built one of the foremost Estate Planning Firms in the Southeast United States by growing his business for two decades. He has focused his practice exclusively on tax, business and estate planning law and assists business owners in protecting their legacies from government and creditor interference. His areas of practice include multi-generational estate planning, successions and estate administration, business consulting, wills, Grantor Trusts, life insurance trusts, charitable planning, captive insurance companies, gun trusts, family limited partnerships, Veterans Planning and Elder Law.
Todd earned a Master’s Degree (LL.M.) in Tax Law from Emory University, is a Board Certified Expert in Estate Planning and Administration as determined by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, NAIFA, Atticus, Advisors Forum, Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel and The New Orleans Estate Planning Council. Todd also serves on the board for EO Louisiana (Entrepreneurs Organization) and the Jefferson Charter Foundation. Todd regularly provides continuing education presentations to attorneys, CPA’s, financial advisors and the public including at Money Watch Live, National Business Institute, Louisiana CPA Society, AICPA, Tulane Estate Planning Institute, the LSU Annual Estate Planning Seminar, Nichols Estate and Business Planning Institute, and NAIFA. Todd is qualified by the Louisiana Department of Insurance to present continuing education accredited presentations covering numerous business, tax and estate planning topics. Todd is certified by the National Association of Estate Planning Councils as an Accredited Estate Planner, listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers, recognized by his fellow attorneys with an A/V-Preeminent rating (the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell) and was named one of the top 100 estate planning attorneys in the country by Worth magazine.
Todd was born in New Orleans, graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1984, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans in 1988, his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University in 1992, and his L.L.M. in Taxation from Emory University in 1993. Todd enjoys spending time with his children, the New Orleans Saints, the Miami Dolphins, sailing, photography and traveling.
Mervatt F. Eljaouhari
Mervatt Eljaouhari graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University New Orleans with a bachelor degree in International Business in 2010. She has studied business development in Spain, Austria, Portugal, Morocco, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Mervatt has also done emerging markets research in London for the purpose of bringing various franchises to the Middle East. Being fluent in Conversational Arabic has greatly aided in this effort.
She also has a strong focus in finance and business strategies. As a financial adviser at Northwestern Mutual, Mervatt advised clients in financial strategies and asset protection. Ms. Eljaouhari was admitted to the bar in October of 2013 and is currently a candidate for receiving her Masters in Business Administration.
